Faculty

Christine Campbell Ballet

Ballet Instructor, has studied ballet at the Royal Academy of Dance in London and holds an MFA in dance. She has studied modern dance with Martha Graham, the Alwin Nikolais Co. and the Donald McKayle Co., and jazz with Gus Giordano.

Audra Carabetta Jazz (Summer)

Ms. Carabetta is a former professor of Dance at Holy Cross University, and is currently pursuing an MFA in dance. She has choreographed and performed extensively with dance companies in the Boston area and overseas, including Weber Dance Company and Marcus Schulkind. She was the 2004 recipient of Lef Foundation’s Emerging Artist Award.

Lorraine Chapman Ballet, Repertory (Summer)

Ms. Chapman received her ballet training from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and has danced for numerous companies including Prometheus Dance and Ballet Theatre of Boston. Her professional company, Lorraine Chapman The Company , performs throughout the U.S. and Canada, and her works have received many choreography awards. She currently teaches at several Boston area schools.

Patricia Estorino Ballet, Modern Dance

Ms. Estorino began studying ballet in her native Cuba, studying at the Alejo Carpentier school. Her teachers included Fernando Alonso (head and founder of the National Ballet of Cuba), Laura Alonzo, and Jose Manuel Carreno (American Ballet Theatre). She graduated with a teaching certificate from the Pro Danza Center of Cuba and performed with the Contemporary Dance Company of Cuba. Since coming to the Boston she has performed with the Marcus Schulkind Dance Company and Lorraine Chapman The Company. She is currently on the faculty of the Brookline Community Center for the Arts.

Emily Jacobson First Steps

Ms. Jacobson has trained at the Performing Arts School of Worcester, Boston Ballet School, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and Orlando Ballet school. She currently dances with Commonwealth Ballet, where she has performed leading roles in The Nutcracker and other ballets.

Meghan Meehan Ballet, Jazz, Modern (Summer)

Ms. Meehan is a 2008 graduate of Muhlenberg College, where she majored in Dance. She is also a 2004 graduate of ASB. As a member of Commonwealth Ballet, she danced many leading roles, including The Nutcracker’s Snow Queen and Dew Drop Fairy. This is her fourth year teaching at the Summer Dance Camp.

Lindsay Moncrieff Pre-Ballet

Ms. Moncrieff has trained at Acton School of Ballet, the School of American Ballet in NYC, Boston Ballet, Orlando Ballet, and the Walnut Hill School of the Arts on a merit scholarship. She is a senior member of Commonwealth Ballet Company and has danced leading roles in The Nutcracker and other ballets. She was recently offered a position with the Orlando Ballet II, but elected to complete her final year of studies in Acton.

Mr. Morris began his dance training in Madison, Wisconsin where he directed Jazzworks Dance Theatre and choreographed for Choreographer's Consortium and the Madison Savoyards. Since coming to Boston in 1985, Mr. Morris has performed with the modern dance company, Choreo, and danced as a soloist with The Dance Prism. Mr. Morris has choreographed for several companies in the Boston area including the Harvard-Radcliffe Dance Company and Wheaton College. With Kathryn Anderson he is co-founder of the Commonwealth Ballet Company and currently serves as its Artistic Director. He has choreographed more than 25 ballets, including full-length productions of Dracula, Beauty and the Beast, Hans Christian Anderson's The Nightingale, and The Secret Garden. Mr. Morris holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Lynn Morris Ballet

Ms. Morris began her studies in N.Y.C at the Hazel Mackay Dance Studio. She holds a degree from Cornell University where she studied the Graham Technique with Mae Atherton and performed with the Advanced Dance Performing Group.

Melissa Morris School Administrator

Mrs. Morris holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Lesley University and has had an extensive career as a visual designer. She collaborated last year to create the scenario for The Enchanted Toy Shop, and has designed sets and props for ballets such as The Nightingale and The Secret Garden. She is married to ASB Director, Chip Morris.

Lori Nowak Ballet (Guest)

Ms. Nowak was a soloist for Boston Ballet, dancing roles such as Giselle, Odette in Swan Lake, the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, and leading roles in La Sylphide, Serenade, La Somnabula and many other ballets. She is a winner of the Silver Medal at the New York International Ballet Competition.

Sheila Peters Jazz

Ms. Peters has a BA in dance from the University of California. She has taught at the University of California, the Lawrence Academy and the Groton School. She was co-founder of the Santa Barbara Dance Alliance and has performed with companies on the East and West coasts.

Denise Pons (Leone) Ballet (Senior Faculty)

Ms. Pons began her dance training in New Orleans, LA with Joseph Giacobbe and has been coached by Michael Smuin, Mark Morris, Bruce Marks, Natalia Dudinskaya, Edward Villella, Dinna Bjorn, Georges Garcia, Bojan Spassoff, Bruce Wells, and Anna-Marie Holmes. She received the Nordan Fine Arts Scholarship and attended Texas Christian University. She performed with New Orleans’ Delta Festival Ballet, Fort Worth Ballet (now Texas Ballet Theater), San Francisco Ballet, Eglevsky Ballet, and Boston Ballet (1982 - soloist).

In 1990, Ms. Pons was selected by Mark Morris and Mikhail Baryshnikov as one of the eight founding members of the White Oak Dance Project. As a guest artist, she performed the Black Swan Pas de Deux, Firebird and Les Sylphides with Ballet Oklahoma and New Jersey Ballet. Ms. Pons has taught extensively throughout the US and France. Her background also include extensive training in tap, jazz, flamenco, and modern dance.

Marina Tomashuk Ballet

Ms. Tomashuk holds an MS in Education and an Advanced Teaching Certificate in Theoretical Methodological Specialty Training from the University of Kiev, Ukraine. She has taught and danced character and classical roles in the major classical ballets at the Classical Dance Ensemble in Kiev.

Sasha White First Steps

Ms. White is a 2007 graduate of ASB, where she was a teacher in the First Steps program for 4 year olds. As a member of Commonwealth Ballet, she danced leading roles in The Nutcrackerand The Enchanted Toy Shop. She currently dances at Temple University, and teaches ballet to underprivileged children in Philadelphia. She is also a movement teacher at the DeCordova Museum.

Anthony Williams Adult Ballet

Anthony Williams was a principal dancer of The Boston Ballet, and an original charter member. He has been a member of The Joffery Ballet, and a principal dancer of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and The Norwegian Ballet. He is currently Director of BalletRox in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.

Kristina Wright Pre-Ballet

Kristina Wright ( PreBallet): is a senior ASB dancer who has performed soloist roles with Dance Prism, Metrowest Ballet. She has trained with Edra Toth and Cathy Fallon, and studied at American Ballet Theatre in Alabama. She has previously served on the student faculty of the Studio Ballet of Hudson.
