Acton School of Ballet

Performance Opportunities

Spring Production

Students in Pre-Ballet through Level 10, Modern, Contemporary, and Advanced Ballet classes perform in our annual spring production of a full-length ballet. This experience is an important part of their ballet education, enabling them to both collaborate with other students and develop an appreciation for the genre’s finest works. Nearly all of our students perform, but if a student would rather just study and not perform, that option is always available.

Students in the Lower School (Pre-Ballet through Level 2) perform on only one of the two performance days. Students in Levels 3 and up perform both days.

Commonwealth Ballet

When students enter the Upper School (Level 3+) they have the unique opportunity to audition for Commonwealth Ballet productions. CBC recognizes Acton School of Ballet as its official school and ASB students audition for many CBC productions. However, dancers from other schools are also welcome to join CBC and audition for its ballets. The Company audition takes place in June for students aged 13 and up. Please visit the Commonwealth Ballet website for more information.

Non-company dancers are eligible to audition each year for a fully staged production of The Nutcracker, as well as a story-based Spring production on alternate years.

Commonwealth Ballet Company was founded in 1992 by Kathryn Anderson and Chip Morris. The Acton-based Company has produced over 65 dance programs since its inception and has grown over the years.
