We partner with Dance This Way in West Concord, MA for all of our dress code needs. We recommend visiting Dance This Way to try on and order your leotard to assure correct fit for Lower School students. Our Upper School dress code is custom to Acton School of Ballet and will be exclusively sold through Dance This Way. Please visit or call them to place your order.

The Dress Code for the 2023-2024 school year has changed to make the options more accessible and available to our families.

Why do we have a dress code?

The dress code is an important part of our syllabus programs and age-appropriate dance wear is selected at each level. It is important that students follow the dress code for a variety of reasons:

• Allows teachers to see a student’s musculature, which in turn helps to improve technique and prevent injury

• Provides a sense of structure and community with peers in their class

• Limits distractions and allows students to move properly in class

ballet shoes

Students in the Lower School wear full sole leather ballet slippers. Students in the Upper School transition into split sole canvas shoes, which helps them to better articulate through their feet and prepare for pointe work. Please select from the following options.

Lower School Options (First Steps through Level 2)

Tights

Euroskin tights in "Theatrical Pink"
#210c or 215c Children’s (First Steps through Level 2)
#219 Women’s (All students in Level 3 and up must have mesh tights with back seams)
*Tights should be worn inside ballet shoes at all times

Students Identifying As Male

Black tights or leggings, dance belt, a white close-fitting T-shirt or leotard, white socks and black ballet shoes.
